We’ve been reading a book called When The Sea Turned to Silver by: Grace Lin. I’ll tell you about what I read so far. So there’s this girl named Pinmei and her grandmother Amah. They live in a village located on a mountain in ancient China. Amah is an excellent embroiderer. Other villagers come up to get some things embroidered but, they always end up listening to one of her porqoui tales. One boy who always comes up is Yishan. Both of his parents died and Pinmei wants him to live with them. Amah has millions of porqoui tales like ones about the black tortoise of winter. When he comes Amah says thats when winter comes. There is also the one about the luminous stone and how the emperor traded something for it but he lost it. If you find it and give it to him he will grant you a wish. Pinmei knows all of her stories. I can’t wait to read more.
