When the Sea Turned to Silver

I am reading When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin. So far Pinmei and Yishan want to go to the City of Bright Moonlight after her grandmother was kidnapped and put in a dungeon. They wanted to get the paper of answers because they think it could lead them to the luminous stone. The emperor says if you give him the luminous stone he will grant you one wish. Pinmei and Yishan’s wish will be to get Pinmei’s grandmother back. On the way they meet a man, woman, and their son.  He was the only young man left in the village because all of the others were taken to the emperor. He was not taken because he couldn’t walk after he fell off of his horse. When Pinmei and Yishan leave the man and the woman give them food and blankets even though they were very poor. It was cold and snowy and the conditions were very bad. On their way from the house they see a girl fall off a horse. They run to her aid. She says she can not stand up and asks Pinmei to tell her a story. Pinmei tells her the story of the widow’s embroidery after seeing the woman’s embroidered picture. That’s all that we’ve read so far and I hope you consider reading it.
